The Benefits of Gardening with BRASS (Bedford Refugee and Asylum Seeker Support)

Gardening is more than just planting seeds and watching them grow—it’s a powerful activity that can improve well-being, build community, and create a sense of belonging.


At BRASS, we offer asylum seekers and refugees the opportunity to enjoy gardening at our allotment as part of our social events. Whether you’re new to gardening or have experience, our community space provides a welcoming environment for all ages to connect with nature, learn new skills, and find comfort in a shared activity.


If you are a local resident and would like to join us as a volunteer, or a client of BRASS who would like to know more and come along, then email andrea@brass27b.org or call 01234 211381. You can also ask a volunteer at the Advice Centre or the Women's Group.


You don't have to have any experience of gardening; everyone is welcome.

 


1. Mental and Emotional Well-Being
