To celebrate Refugee Week 2025, on Saturday 28 June, we held our annual Football
Tournament. Around 100 people attended, including seven teams from: Bedfordshire Fire Service, Bedfordshire Pilgrims Housing Association, Bedford Football Club, PBIC, the social workers’ team and two teams of refugees. Lucy Bywater (Beds BC Councillor), handed out the medals to the winning teams.
It was a fantastic event, where players and supporters alike had a chance to get to know each other and get involved in some friendly competition! The weather was kind to us - in fact, the fruit and cold drinks provided were much needed. We were very grateful for Bedfordshire Football Association for helping with the set up of the goals and for providing FA referees.

On Wednesday 18th June, several BRASS employees and volunteers, along with the Higgins Museum, ran a market stall in Bedford town centre, with the aim of engaging members of the public with the work of the organisation and to hand out 'myth busting' leaflets as well as plants and sweets. We were delighted with the response of many passers by who showed support and it was really good to engage in so many conversations. It was also lovely to see past and present clients and volunteers who dropped by to say hello. We handed out 120 leaflets and engaged in 67 conversations in all - a busy day!
